Unfortunately, it is not possible to set the AV9000 as a slave. I am sure there is a way to use the DVD player in the BV7 but it doesn't seem likely to be via ML.

Well done! Positioning speakers does indeed make a huge difference to the sound and moving them even small amounts can change things by a fair amount.
