Are you sure that both speaker leads are Mk2 or sometimes called fully wired? What happens if you swap the cables around? Have you moved the switch on the side? Should be set to AUDIO

I have a 4002 without the decoder but with the thick cable and a switch on the side. It has a dummy decoder board!

Your dealer will probably fit a new CD mech which will make it equivalent to the Mk3. Get him to also upgrade the software to the latest spec and you will have a Mk3.

Just put c2103 in the search box and search the whole site. Yes, it is a capacitor used to smooth the laser supply in Beocenter 9000/9500 types. The same circuit is not used in the Ouverture and it's derivatives but I believe there is similar. I have just checked the service manual and I could be talking complete bo11ocks. It's proprietary I'm afraid so you can't rob one from another make although plenty of competitors do use the same basic mechanism. What did you screw the ground wire to? It should be srewed to the chassis of the amplifier and should make a clean connection on bare metal.
