  • Re: Apple TV and Beo

I think bayerische was referring more to any performance differences between the two of which there will be none when using the digital output. Your post seems perfectly correct though so may also be a deciding factor!

Either will perform equally well. You can use the ATV with the BeoLab 5s. A simple optical > coaxial digital converter will do the trick. They're cheap and don't degrade the sound in any way as the output is identical to the input. You will need to sync the BeoLab 5s together using the sync cable available from B&O. The BeoLab 5s should be in option

  • Re: BV 7 32 vs BV 8 32?

I would compare the two side-by-side. The performance increase on the BeoVision 7-32 seems to be quite large, although the BeoVision 8 is still a very good performer.

  • Re: Beosystem 5500 - Good Value?

The signal is from just after the tone, balance and volume controls. I've never used the PowerLink outputs for driving other amplifiers with the exception of once driving a subwoofer from them for a party.

Corrected, I of course mean low-pass filters. I would be interested if you find any issues related to the filters - I for one have always been impressed with the transparency and musicality of my CD7000.

It's possible any high-pass filters are there to eliminate or reduce quantization noise. There's a high probably I'm talking absolute nonsense though!

  • Re: Used Lab 5 Speakers

Some of the earliest ones had issues with white noise too; and when I say white noise, I mean white noise at full volume which can be quite a shock. This shouldn't matter for 2006 models though.

Percussion is something that I too have found to be a little disappointing with the BeoMaster 6500. I remember listening on my B&W DM7s (which I have since sold) and finding them a little on the dull side when it comes to percussive transients when connected to my Beosystem. However, when listening to them on the end of £14k of Naim amplification at

  • Re: AUX AUDIO BeoCenter 2500

You could go into one of the scart inputs on the Avant... Scart can actually deliver a very good sound.

I'll admit to occasionally finding my BeoMaster 6500 a little dull from a sonic viewpoint! For example, my NAD C300 (which cost me £46.50 brand new, closing down sale!) has a much more lively and musical high-end. None of my amplifiers deliver with the same weight and timing of my BeoMaster 6500 though, with the exception of my (currently defunct) BeoMaster
