Ok Stephan, I think your post reassured everyone here. You wrote that the BS5 Encore can't read the content of a NAS...
He also wrote that it needs to be connected through wired ethernet, which somewhat also defeats the object of wirelessly connecting to a NAS drive?

Trip, can you look at the discussion http://forum.beoworld.org/forums/t/40023.aspx and comment? AirPlay inclusion is the least of our worries. It appears the shipping Encore doesn't enable you to connect to an iTunes library or NAS drive. Crazy if true. Almost suicidal, after the discussions we have had on here. Do you have a unit?
It doesn't have an option to connect to a iTunes library only physical attached HDDs are recognized
If it can't use WiFi to a NAS drive or remote iTunes library, the whole argument in the other Beosound 5 Encore discussion is completely pointless - the whole point of the Encore is that it sources all
That only applies to HD connected directly by USB. Also Macs can perfectly read and write FAT32 formated USB HD, so it shouldn't be an issue.
Yep, realised that after I posted it as I mentioned it in the other Beosound 5 discussion (direct USB drive connection). That's fine then, as I wouldn't
On another note, how does the Encore connect to an iTunes library on a computer? I'm hoping wirelessly. Is this the case?
I'm hoping the guy who has just received his Encore can tell us. The Windows-only formatted drive point is worrying, but I think he means you can only connect Windows formatted USB
- Mac formatted drives don't work, the HDD needs to be Windows formatted ( FAT32 is working , NTFS not checked )
I'm not 100% sure what you mean? Do you mean you can't connect to a Mac formatted NAS drive or an iTunes library on any Mac hard drive, server or whatever? ie. the Beosound 5 can only
But that pic shows what looks very much like an iPhone 4.
I think he means in the video from Tue - it's a different thing entirely. However, in that video Tue mentions the use of an iPad etc, so whatever app he's talking about is definitely going to be available for iOS. Does anyone else know what this
is the latest beocom 5 Sw version still 2.3
It was when I asked my dealer to upgrade it a couple of weeks ago. Also, the 2.3 update contained almost nothing significant over the previous 2.2 software, so perhaps they've fixed every outstanding issue? Even 2.2 only had a couple of fixes (albeit one being a
What I cannot fully comprehend is why the BS5 has an expensive screen & control wheel if it's possible (preferable?) to play its content more conveniently from an iPad (or similar) held in the hand and seated on the sofa?
Which is what I remarked on much earlier in the thread. If your music is on a NAS
I've had 7 mac notebooks since 2002 all of which suffered some sort of physical failure
Well, that must be some kind of record. I don't have the stats to hand, but Apple notebooks are some of the most reliable around and Apple was voted number one for customer support recently. I've had two Sony
