  • Re: Is it worth buying a B&O TV anymore? A thought for the day.

Actually I value all opinions on here. I think 355f often has very pertinent opinions and we have to acknowledge that everything made by B&O is not perfect. However on balance, I prefer buying B&O products than any other make as the combination of design and performance meets my needs. I don't agree with everything any one person says on

  • Re: BeoSound Century Left Speaker

I think the lack of answers is ignorance rather than ignoring! If you are getting some output, it would seem that the connections are present. I think you have probably got as far as I would have done and if you are as skilled as me (ten thumbs!) I would call in someone with a multimeter to test it.

  • Re: Extending my B&O System

Yes, but it only had to play back DVDs. Not very demanding and it worked with no real downsides. The DVD2 is far more complex and because it has Philips menus, it doesn't work as a B&O product should. With a DVD player, the vast majority of us would simply put a disc in and press play. To record, you need a useful and user friendly interface

  • Re: Extending my B&O System

Bingo: DVD2 is quite new, isn't it? So why will it be gone then so soon? Will there come a blu-ray replacement then? Because it is a re-badged Philips which doesn't have a digital tuner and cannot use an external digital tuner when on timer. It is overpriced and uses Philips based menus. In short, it was a mistake. I think it very likely that

  • Re: iTunes, Airport, Direct....and my new BL2

I suppose it depends on your encoder, but low frequencies are not usually the problem, rather it is high frequencies. However I would try recording at varying compressions and at lossless and see if you can tell them apart when double blind. What is your CD source? Could it be the soundcard on your Mac? See here for a paper on MP3 frequency response

  • Re: Most peculiar Lab5 Vibrations

Not sure Blu-Tac will have much effect on BL5s! I would suggest damping the room a bit when you do the test sequence. More furniture, maybe rugs if you don't have carpet down and some more bodies in the room. Then remove said bodies etc and see what it sounds like. Probably take some trial and error to get them as you wish. Try moving the speakers

  • Re: Extending my B&O System

I wouldn't get the DVD2. I would get a Panasonic Blu-ray player once the prices have become sensible, making sure that it can play standard discs as well. I don't think the BV5 ever got a projector output except in the US where a dedicated VGA out was fitted. Have you considered a BV9?

  • Re: What are the supported brands for a DVD Controller Type 4021 S/W 1.0

Not completely straightforward but Panasonic and Philips tend to maintain the same codes and are covered. Sony, Pioneer and Onkyo also make models that are covered but these are long discontinued. I don't know if these companies have the same policy. I use one with a Panasonic DVD recorder. I would not be surprised to see the controller get a little

  • Re: secret prizes

I think the article is saying that one's chances of winning are high as there are not that many entries. For prizes as good as these, one would normally expect very little chance! You still have about a one in seventy chance of winning a prize each month so over a year that translates to nearer one in six. Of course the more people that join means
