  • Re: Headphoneamp, suggestions?

A dedicated headphone amp of good quality would probably cost more than a second hand BM5000. I have a little dot micro portable headphone amp that I use with my iPod that cost around £40. If you want to go down the headphone amp route I suggest you check out the dedicated headphone amplifier section of the forums at www.head-fi.org . They have

  • Re: B&O professional audiophile equipment or not....

Steve at Sounds Heavenly: I have taken countless critical comments over the years from "audiophile" friends who have knocked my choice of B&O systems, although my kit has always given me a far more enjoyable listening experience than their (often far more expensive) hifi systems. I love the whole ownership experience, including the operation

  • Re: 28" Avant CRT

The price sounds on the high side but not completely outrageous. The brutal fact is that replacing the tube on a 28" does not make economic sense, it is much more cost-effective to buy another used Avant. Simon

  • Re: Beocenter 4000

tournedos: Well it is certainly worth using! If the going rates are like that over there, I'd just add a CD player, some decent speakers and keep the thing. Agreed! It really isn't worth selling B&O kit from that era, it sounds wonderful, looks good and isn't worth much money. Far better to use and enjoy or give as a freebie to someone

B&O made some excellent stuff at around this time, but sadly very little of it is worth anything significant in money terms . Assuming everything is in perfext working order as well as being cosmetically excellent you are looking at maybe £50 on eBay, but this can vary wildly based on pot luck and you may end up with much less. • Re: What's playing RIGHT NOW?

The Kodo Drummers - One Earth Tour Special live CD Saw them on their last world tour lasyt year and it was an amazing experience. The live CD sounds excellent on my Beosystem 5000/S45-2 combination, I would imagine hearing the CD on a pair of Lab 5's would be stunning. Simon

Thanks for the replies, it does look as if capacitors are the likely culprit. One thing I am sure of is that if I attempted the repair myself I would probably make things worse! Could anyone recommend a repairer based in the North West of England who could do the work for me? Thanks again Simon

  • Beogram CD50 - starts with no sound

I have an unusual problem on my Beogram CD50. When it starts playing there is no sound. After about 3 minutes there is some sound but it is incredibly distorted. If I wait another 30 seconds or so the distortion disappears and it works perfectly. This only happens when it has been on standby for a while, if it has only been put on standby for a few
