• Re: Beosound 5 Encore is here...
Kind of agree with Flappo
Same here, in some manners. The sound quality of B&O kit is great, but we sure do pay a premium for it. Plus it is a lifestyle decision. The stores are presented as a lifestyle decision - most people are buying in to the "snob value" as much as they are the quality. I
Everyone here in this thread is talking about the functionality of the Encore in a wifi setup and compare this with airplay, icloud etc. But nobody is interested in sound quality of these different ways of listening music, is it all the same??
Who on earth said we are not interested? Of course we are or we wouldn't
Looking at the full length video, it seems to me that B&O's vision is that EVERY room will have an Encore in it. I do love the Beosound 5 (even played with one today) and its successor the Encore, but I don't think I could justify 2++ units !
I was told a year or so ago that the Encore was originally
Like I say I must be odd, or maybe I just don't buy into this thing where a system must do airplay, even if there's no real benefit to it, just because some other manufacturer has done it.
I've explained the benefits. One key advantage of supporting AirPlay is that you can use your iPhone or iPad

  • Re: design values BEO

I see some of the old values in the Beocom 5's we've purchased recently. Well made, superb sound, good design. However, I still think the quality isn't at the level of older equipment. The keys on the keypad just seem cheap to me. Nothing like the keys on our Beocom 2! No comparison. Yet the two Beocom 5's were £1000. Considering
Another thing, on the Macbook I purchased and downloaded some music server software from Twonky.
Yep, Twonky sets up your Mac as a UPnP media server, so the Beosound 5 has picked this up as a NAS device. Problem is, Twonky won't have been configured with any music, which is why the Beosound 5 hasn't picked

£2500 in the UK, for the basic product. I don't think that includes any stand, base or remote?
I kinda agree with Trip (??): who really cares about Airplay.
We have to remember that this is a B&O forum. People are going to be more biased towards being fully B&O than, say, on an Apple forum. Ask them what they think of B&O products and we'll see a different opinion. I'm also keen to
Now I'm on an 11" MB Air which, while some of the issues with the previous issues have been solved, just doesn't have enough horsepower to run my Lutron programming SW in parallels.
Trip, the 11" Air won't have enough power to run Parallels effectively. My 2.7Ghz i7 MBP can only just
If a NAS is DLNA or UPnP capable and is wired connected to your wireless router, you can connect the BS5e and this NAS wireless!
Sounds like a good time for me to invest in a bigger (non-Apple) network drive!
