Ok, for now that is all I have time to post. We did make a good deal of progress, but you all will just have to wait and see. Todd and I both have to head out for work. I will post the rest tonight!
Uncool leaving us hanging. Get an 8 to 5 job! (And a turntable while you're at

Alright Leslie! Here is the part you were waiting for!! Here are the RLs, freshly skinned. Todd, are you holding yours upside down?!

I was hoping no one would say that! These woofers (like every other RL), are cemented in place!!
No, just sitting a little hard with a rubber gasket, pry it out slowly and carefully, prying all around the driver basket, with a wide bladed screwdriver. Here is Todd taking off the bezel that keeps the fabric from coming loose.
If in doubt, try swapping drivers between the good and the bad speaker. One at a time and see when things change. Martin
I was hoping no one would say that! These woofers (like every other RL), are cemented in place!!

No the drivers are not equal. The measurements you quoted there are not just the mid-woofers, but the entire speaker! I measured many times to verify and my numbers are accurate. Have a look at the table a few posts further up. I've been thinking of adding in a resistor.. How could it change so much? What could have changed in the woofer(s)? I think

Regarding the solution.. Earlier when I was taking the more detailed measurements of the individual components. All but the inductors, probably a good idea to check them, but since these crossovers haven't been toasted by some disco central party host, they will probably check out fine. I think the root problem is the actual impedance of the drivers
-
The last 2 measurements I have made are that of total impedance. The entire speaker's impeadance - the load ultimately felt by the amplifier. Here are the actual resistors (circled in red), on the crossover board.

There he is! Yes, fundamentally it seems there is a impedance issue. Looking at the numbers, I am suprised the first hand audible difference is so subtle! Your understanding is spot on. I just took another measurement and the good speaker holds its 3.8ohms while the other has dropped to 7.3 ohms from 7.8. This time I measured at the spring terminals
