You can certainly do that, as the MBA is designed for wireless operation. Wireless printing is no problem - I do that anyway. If you have an Airport Extreme then you can have a network disc and printer. Or get Time Capsule. I have to say that I would not use it as my main computer though.

I am planning on using the Windows portion to run the Beo5 software - which it does perfectly! I have only given Windows XP Pro 5GB ! I use the MBA purely as a mobile computer and keep my large files on my PowerMac.

£400 doesn't seem so bad to someone who bought a Beolink 7000 new in 1991 - I also bought a Beocenter 9500 so I had something to work! The Beolink 7000 cost £615 which in today's money would be £960. Put Windows on mine - works fine. If you have another Mac you don't normally need an optical drive as you can use the one on the other Mac by remote - not for copyright discs though. Limited connections but fast and a lovely design. Very pleased with it.

I think the problem will possibly be that you need to reset the BL7000. You need to remove all components, then store: then add your components. The Beolink 7000 sets itself as two way by sending a signal and waiting for a response. If it gets none, it sets the component to one way. Do you know how to do this? If not, we can walk you through it.

It is not very loud (or my ears are getting worse!) I have to put my ear to the 7000 as if it were a mobile phone!!

I am afraid the simple answer is no. Connect the satellite to the BS2, and you can control it on the Avant though.

Aux sources need to be at Line level. CD players, tape players etc use this level. The source that usually doesn't is the record player but in your case, the 6500 has an internal amplifier which boosts the signal to Line level.

It will work fine. No Datalink though.

The VX5500 is usually controlled by the TV so if you have a Beovision, it will work. It is not really designed for use with the Beo4 though so some commands are not understood. I think the coloured buttons may not do what you want. Bit trickier if you don't have a Beovision! You will need an external IR transceiver which will be difficult to find
