You can record a programme when watching something else but there is only one digital tuner so you cannot watch a different digital channel when recording another. I think this is quite a disadvantage and this is one that Sky+ avoids as it has two digital tuners.

The digital output can be used to attach to the Beolab 5 speakers so that the D/A converter in the speaker is used rather than the one in the BS9000. It is also possible to use a different DAC if you want if using other speakers.

Have you got the STB-C fitted to the MX4000? Are you using Sky at present? There may be a software requirement as the older STB-Cs did not cover Sky+. The code for a Sky+ box is 16.

The Beolab 2 will certainly add bass extension to your set up though I confess to finding it a little too much for music reproduction myself. Excellent for surround sound though. However everyone is different and you may find this

The problem here could be that the Decoder socket does not accept RGB signals, just composite, which is going to give a worse picture. None the less, my Avant, which is a slightly more modern one, still has an acceptable picture on the decoder socket. Try another SCART lead first - always look for the cheapest solution first!!

I guess that is capacitor C13 on the PC2 board - it is 150pf . I attach the circuit diagram.
