Greetings Nick and yes they are the Beolab active / B&O version of passive if you bypass the amps in them - the problem was all about the 5500 receiver master control not speaking to the speakers OR the the other way around - two of us spent an entire afternoon trying figure out what the problem

Hi thanks for that! I have sent him a mail, as it doesnt state whether they are active version or not. Its hard to tell without pics, I don't fancy a 4hr drive to find they are beovox! I will keep you all posted, fingers crossed Cheers Nick

No don't worry I am after a pair of column speakers for the fronts or lab 4000 with stands, I think penta's are the way for me! Its a fair game! If you hear of anything penta lab wise even doer uppers let me know. Cheers Nick

What would it cost to replace the 8 mid range drivers?

I understand I will be extremely lucky! I was looking at a pair on ebay they ended early but no bids £250. I would add a few quid to it if need be, you never know unless you ask!
