There is no newbie questions The Beomaster 6500 har output for both passive (Beovox) and active (BeoLab) speakers. Therefor any B&O speaker will work with your system, including BeoLab 8000 and the any other speaker from the current range. Whether or not it is a good match depends on you preferences for sound and design. IMHO it is a very good match

Yes it will turn green, when the amp. is on. Maybe the PowerLink socket in the Avant is dead (or turned off if you can do that).

They say, that Beo4 and Beo5 will be the corner stone in the operation of systems for many years to come. This indicates nothing about a new (simple) remote, and a discontinue of the Beo4

According to the financial statement, published 5 min. ago: DVD2, BV8-32, Beo5, "Serenata" and BS6 will be launched during this year. Next year a "New audio concept, which will set the standard for musical enjoyment in the home" will be launched.

Be aware that the Cona is huge, and needs a lot of space. I would go for whatever fits your room best, as the sound isn't that importaint.

Chrisreunion: Definitely updated BeoLab 4500 + 5000, with a larger display matching the colours of BV7's display. It drives me mad to see all BeoVisions now being flat & wall-mountable, without any BeoLab to go with in terms of design & flatness. I think the latest catalogue shows BeoLab 5000 with BV7 wall mounted, it looks splendid! To

1. CD @ 80 % on BS9000 2. MP3 @ 15 % on BS2 3. Radio @ 5 % on BS9000 Do not use cassettes any more, do not own vinyl. Very rarely plays VHS and DVD.
