  • Re: Unbelievable: Beogram 3000

Nice deck - I have one as well. The arm is just a straightforward ST/L and is the same, I am sure, as the one on a Beogram 1000/1001 so is easily obtainable. The lid could be trickier - I am not sure the one I have is original anyway! The service manual is actually on site!

  • Re: Polishing PENTAS

I have never polished mine! Just dust them from time to time!

  • Re: going retro

Of course when you have done that, it will be covered in scratches which won't polish out!

Yes - there is no extra socket but the Phono socket has 7 pins.

The 2400-2 came with the proto datalink to the 4004 as standard - it could be retro-fitted to the 2400. The volume display also differed slightly.

  • Re: going retro

I agree! The 4500 is clearly the most useful though!

  • Re: PENTA MK III not that bad

Starting with Conway Stewart! My first pen was one of these and I have a soft spot for them!

  • Re: Which is the BEST B&O Cassette recorder?

Tricky question! The 9000 is the most electronically advanced and will allow a relatively flat response in recording up to 22kHz with the right tape. However as tapes are pretty standard these days (if you can find them!) the 8004 is probably just as good and probably has better heads. The stacking 5000 is very well thought of as it allows great flexibility

  • Re: PENTA MK III not that bad

Really not sure I do! I have been offered some at about half price in the past so it is not the money. I just don't think I listen to enough music and am very happy with what I have. Have started collecting pens...

The CDX uses 14 bit 4X oversampling so I guess some of the warm sound will be distortion! I like it though! I took one in and auditioned it against some £1000 CD players and it was not disgraced! I like the 2400 more than any on the other similar models. I like the display and the uncluttered touch area. The 4500 is too shiny and the 3500 too
