I have / had the same reservations with the BL5 in small rooms. One dealer made though the comment, that they make the BL5 "work" in their often tiny Beoliving section in their stores. If you dealer is nice & close by, it might offer you a home demo to decide. In fact, that is what I would recommend. Cheers JK

I have had BL3 and BL2 shipped no problem. Just make sure you consider customs if you order from the US, I think usually its cheaper to stay within canada.

That would truly surprise me giving that they wanted to focus in music and video and one would think these things are developed somewhat quick so that they could have easily stopped it.

I think in a BL5 setup it would "filter oout" the BL2 since the BL5 can go deaper then BL2. I think its just how the program works (i.e. how BO implements 5.1 with BL5) .... I agree. Its hard to say if lower prices would increase volume to a level that the cost would go down. Personally I feel that many customers as well as content providers do not appreciate picture or sound quality enough that it would reach that point.
