Right! Of course the tonearm should move if we're talking about that! When not lowered it should resist a little, or rub, because it sits in a V-shaped support. Once lowered though, it is perfectly free to move! I'd say 5 degrees or so, you can actually push it till it touches the sensor arm!

It is driven by a worm screw, unlike the Pioneer PL-L decks whose arms are free to move. What you shouldn't do is to force it to move by hand, oh no!

Hello, I have a Beogram 4002 and a 4000 none of them has a silent carriage motor when the arm moves fast ! The 4002 has a 'plastic' motor (in fact the casing) but not the 4000. Ditto my Beogram 8000, although it is quieter than those two. I thought filip was asking about that. Of course they can't be heard when playing a record!

Hello, I have 234 V at my sockets (normally 220 V). The 220 V setting had my Beogram 4002 hum badly, and it became completely silent under the 240 V setting!

Oh dear! I was testing at the wrong connector... It must be my wife's cancer getting on me... Not even funny. Anyway, the tuning voltage is progressive until 97 MHZ then it goes straight up to 23 volts, but the display remains at 97. When I dial backwards it takes some time to unlock from 23V to get back to the lower frequencies. I can hear radio

Like you, Martin, Tim helped a number of times. He isn't to be found in any forum but he always nicely answers my emails! So I have Tim's advice. I'll try it anyway, since the chip is on its way—and your own analysis. I'll keep the two of you informed of course! What next?
