You cannot get a new B&O stylus so you have two choices: 1. Risk buying on on eBay - these will all be 20 years old + and are possibly no better than the one you are replacing. 2. Get a Soundsmith one - the cheapest one is the SMMC20E which would be a definite upgrade to the MMC20S. It is however - are you sitting down - $230. I would recommend

The 6500 will be the one to use with the BC2 as it has an RIAA built in. You will need an adapting lead. I am not convinced that your plan with the Avant will work - though you might be able to re-assign the socket in the menu.

It does sound as if you have a fault in the IR receiver . Not easy to fix unless you have excellent eyesight and are a whizz at soldering! The only point - you did add the components when in the main room and not a link room?

Which socket are you using on the BV5?

My old dealer (Windows of the Arcade) had a wonderful repair service and were remarkably well priced. They did repair a number of my items for free and indeed also gave me a couple of pairs of speakers for nothing - some S80.2s and RL60.2s! They also came and sorted out my link system when I bought an Avant from them - their chief service manager came

I am afraid the Beocords are worth depressingly little - shame as these are exceptional decks.

You can still get Beolink 1000s. We use a 1000 with our Century - it is in my daughter's room and is the perfect remote for the job! It would however usually come with a beo4 - I cannot remember if it was optional or not. If it is any consolation, the one I bought came with no remote at all!!

You cannot remotely control a beogram attached to the Tape 2 socket. I am not sure, but you might be able to control a RIAA equipped one attached to the CD port though! It is all about Datalink. The signals sent on the Tape datalink are different to the Phono ones and won't work the Beogram.
