I would advise that you should use a specialized tracking force weight(the cheapest being the "fulcrum balance"-type). This can be far more accurate than the weight measuring ring on the 1800 arm, if it needs calibration. There is some way of calibrating the scale, but I don't know how to on the radial decks. -Søren

Hello, the problem normally gets worse when the stylus is getting closer to the center of the record. I have had the same problem with a rebuillt MMC2 from Axel, simply increasing the tracking weight from the normal 1g to 1,3g helped a lot.

As Martin says, the pushing contact mechanism may need cleaning, and A capacitor problem may cause the unwanted hum. Great machine when working, though :) -Søren

Hehe,I must admit that I am a huge beofan, owning several beogram 400x turntables, two complete Beosystem 8000's, a Beomaster 4400, and have owned some 1900/2400-style untits that have passed on to friends. The design has always been to attractive and the sound quality so good... Looking forward to compare the BeoSound 8 with a Bose iPod system
Also if you add a 2nd pair of speakers do you halve the amount of 'power' that goes to each set?
That is right, and if you connect in parralel, just like on a normal amplifer, the impendance will be half of the speakers'

I will definitely try and maybe buy the iPod dock, as I am in need of one at the moment, and for once I want to own a brand new B&O product! The newest acquisition of mine is a Beosystem 5500 from 1988, let's try something new(but expensive for a 17-year-old student)! -Hammer
Does that means that if you apply the similar logic (beomaster 5500) the beomaster 4500 watt out put would also double from 55 to 110? How could a change in standard of that drastic impact on watts would or was accepted?
The 4500 is also measured by the "new" standard (RMS?), it is producing 30 watts

I also use glass cleaner for my B&O, but once a year or so I use some isopropanol for the alu surfaces to clean properly

That sounds nice, can i PM you if I can't find them in Denmark? Søren
