Ugh, the problem was my preamp. I built the RIAA preamp myself. When I tried different amps I was still using the same preamp. I just remembered that I had never tried switching the channels at the input to the preamp from the turntable. I only tried switching channels at the input to the main amp from the preamp. When I switched channels going from

Thanks a bunch Derek, I'll check these things tomorrow.

Hey guys, I've asked Martin, but I also thought I'd post here just in case anyone had some other ideas. One channel is much quieter on the output of my 1202. I've tried different receivers to confirm it's the turntable. I've also tried another cartridge to confirm it's not the cartridge. Does anyone have any ideas of things to

If you want, you can replace the foam surrounds yourself. It's not hard at all, just takes a couple hours. I won't bother to type out the directions though, because if you google it you'll find there are already detailed instructions online. Austin

Hey Mobe. So, I'm going to tell you how to do this by removing the control panel. It may take a little longer, but it's the proper way to do this, and will ensure a good button contact with the glass. Last thing you want is to glue your glass on, and find that one of the buttons either doesn't work or you have to put pressure on the glass

Mobeyone did you already reattach the glass? I'm only asking because I have some tips to help, but I wouldn't bother typing them out if you've already finished. Austin

I just found this kit, which uses a better chip than the lm833. So you can buy this kit and solder it together. Then put 7-pin DIN connectors on it rather than the rca plugs. For the pins that control the datalink, just use wires to bypass the riaa module on the DIN connectors. Austin

Thanks guys. I'm going to try to find a mcp 5500 since they seem to be the cheapest (and since I'm not sure whether the 5000 screen cover is the same). I'll be removing just the top clear plastic portion covering the screen so, the rest of the finish doesn't matter.

I know this is a late reply. But if you can do some basic electronics including soldering, you can connect (or at least in theory, I've never needed to so I haven't tried) an older turntable to a beosystem through an riaa preamp and still have datalink. You'll have to find a male and female din plug. You would plug your turntable into the

Thanks Peter. You have the MCP 6500 service manual? If so would you be able to upload it or email it to me? Austin
