Thanks Olly. You know, I think this Beomaster actually sounds better than my 6000. I know it shouldn't, but it does. I just love its sound. Pure joy with the CDX. I wanna know too! But seriously, every brushed DC motor I've come across was noisy. Not a matter of lubrication, just rubbing and a little arcing... that's why they are always double-shielded on Beocords for example! The one in the later 4002/4 series is a superb swiss made motor, but the deck is resonant and they will never get silent!
