Replacing the capacitors will usually improve the top end - capacitors are used in a cross over to filter out the low frequencies and stop them going to the tweeters. I have heard rumours that it will be the next BV7-40 that will get Blu-ray. And reasonably (for B&O!) soon. Although I have had no information about a stand alone player, I would be quite surprised if they didn't rebadge another make to allow them to compete.

Turntables do sound different - in my opinion the 4000 sounds better than the 1100 radial deck which was around at the same time. However the 5000 sounds better to me than the 5005 - I had both! Therefore having linear tracking does not immediately guarantee better sound. Listening with eyes shut would be very challenging to me! I think differences

I had one of those - looks like a MCL passive box but with an odd lead coming out of it. I gave mine to Tim Jarman as I thought he might actually use it!
