The performance is usually excellent and if you buy models with Powerlink connections, you can use the modern range of speakers. The only fly in the ointment is the CD mechanism which will have a definite lifespan and are very difficult to get replacements for. Almost all the other electronics can be repaired at component level.

I think Richer Sounds are quite right! That is assuming he is right about the pre-amp outs being at fixed level. the Aux input is designed to take input from tape players etc which have a fixed Line Out level. I am surprised the A/V amplifier has fixed level speaker outputs, but if he says it does... So you need probably a two RCA to 5 pin DIN connector

Beocom 6000 - I have 4 of these and a Beocom 2 as well as some corded Beocoms. The 6000 is far the best phone, especially the newer ones with the headset.

You won't get two way communication and although it might work a bit one way, it will not be reliable - My advice is don't do it! The Beolink 1000 is much better!

Very easy - and a good one to start soldering practice as you have lots of space! Start with one of the simpler speakers - I think the M100s would be a bit like hard work! Replace like with like and you cannot go far wrong!

Have you switched the speakers to Audio? They may be set to Video. Not sure about the powerlink cables - you need fully wired ones for the Beolab 5000 and the ones pictured look thin - but you did say the displays were working.
