    I heard back from Benny today regarding this nightmare . He ultimately replaced the motor, the relay, and the trim pots to get the speed right. He also did some adjustments to my tonearm and replaced the output cable (at my specific request).

[/quote] The seven Energizer 357 watch batteries are just placed in series inside the battery compartment. I just removed the four screws on the back of the remote, pulled the remote apart, and put the batteries in as shown one at
