I have had the same with my Avant DVD. After replacing a large glass part it works like a charm again! So I.m afraid it might be the tube!

There could also be a problem with playing Copy Protected "CD's". These "CD's" have a copyprotection which makes the disc so bad that it is not a CD anymore, but a nice shiny disc with music on it. It simply does not comply with the Philips Redbook. To be able to sell these discs the CD-logo is not on these discs. A way to

It could be that the speaker relay in your BeoMaster 5500 needs to be replaced. The contacts almost always go bad after a while (or more than 20 years.... ) There is no speaker relay on the Speakers 2 connection, because this connection is used for the MCL system. Are the motors on the BeoCenter OK?

If it is a bargain depends on the price. Here in the Netherlands I would pay no more than between €50,-- and €75,-- for something like this. If it can't be repaired, the financial damage is not so big and you can always use the spares which are still OK.

It is the one on the heatsink, so you have the right one! .3 volt is much too low, it should be around 23 volt. Check F3 on the PCB behind the transformer, otherwise the problem is almost certainly in PCB62 (regulator PCB behind the CD-player). It could be the relay on this PCB.
