After putting the ring in, put the rubber gasket in, checking all round that it has seated properly.

Looking round the rings, I found a little notch which corresponds with the seam on the aluminium bit of the ring. This obviously goes to the bottom.

More sensibly, I laid the speaker enclosure fronts on the table, raising the lower portion up with two folded up dusters as the outer rings protrude a little.

I wasn't having a go at you Graham and thank you for reading this. Thanks also to you, Martin. You have more faith in me than I have!. After I had glued the bits of the surround that had been missed behind the clothes pegs, as before, I had to keep pressing them togethr every five minutes. Eventually they were finished and it was time to re-assemble

Welcome Dan Just a quick point. All Serenes come with the little slidey bit, but as it is usually open when you get it, most of us didn't know it was there! I have had mine a year now and the outside is perfect but the glass took no time at all to get marked by the dial. I think the two little rubber stops should have been a bit more prominent.

Martin. Thank you so much for your input, it has been taken on board for future reference. As I said in my second post, I am a non-technical person. This project is mainly an inexpensive experiment, to see if somebody as thick as myself can save these S120s from the skip. I understand the importance of shimming between the coil and the magnet but where

Now you can see the mistake I had made earlier. I had glued too much between the pegs and so now only had a bit of surround to turn back and glue. Next time (if there is a next time!), I will only glue about an inch.

Anyway, back to the driver. About an hour later the glue has dried, so off with the clothes pegs.
