  • Re: Plasma v lcd

Seven years ago, we had Plasma flatscreens everywhere at work ( Aerospace ). The screens were hot, could only be used in dark, low lumen, or non-lighted conditions, and suffered greatly from burn-in phantoms. Imagine looking at a 3-D soft imagery for detail items for any period of time, and having a new screen repaced constantly due to burn in. Five

  • Re: Beocom 6000s and VOIP

Good, very valid point made above about checking everything out first. I'm not familiar with the VOIP options available to you in OZ, but I would also look at the financial strength of the company. There is a lot of competition, some aggressive with the landline companies losing market share to the VOIP carriers. The service we had then derided

Dylan; Yes, quite positive. It was one of the original 220v models sold in Germany before the introduction of the DECT units. It is in perfect condition despite usage, along with the tablee charger. Most are all DECT models today. Caller ID does work, along with the original features. It would have been nice were it a speaker phone, but it does serve

G'Day Dylan; It will work. I have used a European (DE) 6000, non-DECT model with Vonage VOIP service in North America, and it works fine.

Alex; Yes, I use Beoplayer ( and Media Centre, Media Player, and music from the BS 3200 ) all through BL 4000 or BL 2000 ML connections with Beoport. MACPRO at work, with Beoplayer, and MACBOOK PRO laptop with Beoplayer for travel. I am amazed at what Apple/MAC is able to offer today, but at the time we started using Beoplayer and ML, it wasn't

DAB station signal transmission via Beoport N.RADIO. Versus a DAB radio itself as I had when working in London. Are you listening to the N.RADIO as it comes in raw over the Internet, or configuring the signal reception level desired via Beoport ?

Niveau and Alex: I share your enthusiasm for N.RADIO, especially DAB. CLASSIC FM in London is one of our favorite stations on our B&O playlist. I can access good DAB audiophile quality via the B&O Beoport, and enjoy it live in Europe, North America, or Brasil. If I were to guess, I would think that the Beoport and Beomedia software would be

The Beosound 5 does sound exciting. According to the store I just spoke with in Germany, this is a new audio system set for release in Sept-Oct of 2008. Details were not " officially specific " but give the impression of a unit with HD capacity of 100 x music my BS 3200 unit. Included is an Internet interface similar to Beomedia 1. No further

As Dennis mentions, either way. I use mine with a Linksys G56 WLAN and it works fine. The really great point about the unit, is that it allows us to surf our preset Internet favorite using the Beo 4. Since our PC has been connected ( RGB + now HDMI ) to our Living Room Plasma for the past 5 years, we can stand, walk around the room, take it upstairs

  • Re: Beosound 1 gives up the goose! [:O]

Fair Dinkum. It sounded as though it had a few problems for the store to iron out. On the subject of the Antennae or Aerial, this is a delicate mechanism. You can stop it with your palm, and they can jam inside also. If yours was not working right, add it to the inspection list at the store.
