Are you sure that the arm at the front (the one held down by the spring clip) is free to move?? In all examples that I have seen of the symptoms you are describing, the fault has always been dried lubricant on the shaft under the spring clip. The other bearing services/shafts are generally a loose fit and do not bind excessively. Beware.......the spring

Hello and thank -you for responding. Sorry to say that the 4004 pick up arm is not suitable for Beogram 4000. The mounting is different and it will not fit without some modification. I know this as I already have a 4004 arm which I could use. Thank you for your most generous offer which, on this occasion, I must decline.
