You need some 2 pin DIN plugs for the speakers. Lovely set up by the way! I have one of these myself and indeed my first ever system became this system. (Originally had a Beogram 1902 but bought the 4004 later - which I still have 27 years later!

The early seventies hinged! Never heard of the others being called unhinged before! The 5231 has the same motor. The 3000 and 1202 are very similar but the 3000 is actually the one to have. Better platter (if not so pretty!) and the hinged lid. They share a service manual - there are differences though.

Sounds like a component failure - either a transistor or a capacitor has blown and could well have gone open circuit. The protection circuit is switching the Beomaster off to prevent damage. Needs servicing but I am sure it will be fixable. Sounds as if it is in the power amplifier from the symptoms. Just check that there is not a dodgy connection in

I agree though the last attempt to do this by another site was an unqualified failure! There are two issues. The first is that very few will contribute and the second is accuracy. However if this was a popular idea, I think it would definitely be worth doing. We would need a critical mass of people willing to make a start - I would say about 50. If

The motor will need stripping down and rebuilding. Alternatively, get a donor unit. Tim Jarman in the UK does a good job on these motors but I am sure there will be someone in the US. The old 3000 uses the same motor.

Actually not anymore! I have reduced my addiction massively! About to give away a 7000 system and Beolink 7000! Admittedly partly to make space for my Beolab 5000 system!

Please please scan this! I tried buying one a while ago but was massively outbid - these are rather nice manuals and I would love a copy on site. Feel free to send me or Ignace a copy and we will put it on site. A colour scan would be best.

I suggest that that is by far the best thing to do!

If you want them in different rooms, that is fine too! Connect a pair of speakers to each and have them both set to option 2. Again, you will be able to control all surces from both units - you can listen to the Ouverture on the BV5 and also the BV5 sound on the Ouverture.

The BV5 will turn on, but not the screen.
