I take it that there is no Masterlink wire going into the link room, as the obvious thing to do is use the Avant as a link room TV. If this is not feasible or desirable, set the link room speakers to option 4 and you will need to press LINK before they will react to a command.

Which TV are you using? The V6000 is a bit of an odd ball. The OSD is sent as a PAL signal and not RGB so don't use the RGB setting on the Beovision. That could be your first problem!

The figures are those quoted by B&O and there is no qualification - as they are comparing speakers and are clearly trying to get as high a value as possible, it would seem perverse to test one speaker at a different standard to the others. Attaching an iPod or computer is far easier with a 5500. I use a 5500 in preference because of this. Neither are quite as good as your 5000 though!

Nice site! Just so you know, the RL60s cost £225 in 1985 - about $400 - and when discontinued as RL6000s in 1996 cost £450 or about $900. The later speakers had a reflex port rather than the ABR but were the same size and used similar drivers.

Actually the only problem with the 7000 is the lack of connections compared to my 5500. It no longer has all the RCA plugs , just DIN connections which means that one cannot connect so much. I suppose they needed space for the Powerlink sockets but it is a definite disadvantage.

Interesting that B&O have stopped quoting sound pressure - they stopped on the introduction of the BL3 - it had a very poor sound pressure reading and the next year the figures were no longer quoted! Whether I would want to use them as party speakers is another matter as they don't have the ABL technology of the later speakers and will blow if abused. You can do one of three things: Mask the logo - it will look rotten. Use Letraset - I use Helvetica bold which isn't bad. Use a transfer and then put a matt varnish over it.
