I'd try the other way - red - right, blue - left - copper - common ground - other shield - chassis earth. The other wires may not have been broken off at all! They may well not have been being used.

The problem here is integration. The buttons on the back of the Avant will not work the DVD1 and how do you eject the disc? Much simpler to buy an Avant DVD!

There are 4 wires, left, right, common ground and chassis ground.

The 4002 has a 5 pin DIN plug. Just pulled mine apart but I only have a black and white one! No brown!

Common with this deck I am afraid. Mine came in bits as well!

I have both a Beo4 and a Beo5. The 5 is very clever and will do more than the 4 but for everyday use, you will find the Beo4 easier to use. It is not dissimilar to the situation with the Beolink 7000 and 1000. The 7000 was a brilliant remote but simply too complex for everyday use. I wouldn't want a beosystem 7000 without one but would always have

Very simple! I used masking tape to protect the stylus and the back of the cartridge and then simply used aluminium colour car spray paint. A couple of light coats seemed enough. I used transfers that I printed on my computer for the logo and then put a clear coat of matt lacquer over this. Took the masking tape off and finished. Not completely perfect

I have thought about doing the same myself! I am afraid I can't help with connections but the BV5 uses a chassis very similar to that of the Avant.

Don't have the user manual but the service manual is there and the user manual for the Beocenter 3500 is there and this uses what is essentially a Beogram 3000 as a deck. You need to be a silver member to access these.

The 5231 is the US version of the 5211. The deck starts by pressing LIFT. We don't have the user manual for this deck but we do have the Beocenter 3500 manual and the deck is just about the same.
