It is the capstan motor - this rotates even when the tape is stopped. Normal! No doubt it is wearing - it probably has had a harder life than mine!

I have deleted the last set of replies in this thread as the thread was becoming offensive. To re-iterate: This site will not tolerate offensive posts. We have been asked not to distribute the Beo5 software so it is not available on site at present. Dealers have the software - I suggest that if you have bought a considerable amount from them that they

Toyota UK do a kit for most cars which integrate the iPod into their cars but I am not convinced it works in the Prius. The DICE seems to be US based so at present I simply use the built in socket in the centre console box for my iPod. No remote though but the sound quality is obviously fine. Where are you based?

Definitely the first place to look. Martin can supply belts.

My 9000 is completely silent unless I put my ear actually on it when I can hear the capstan motor - just! Less convinced that it sounds better than my old 8004 - now given away - but the go faster stripe meant I had to keep it!!

True - I was really commenting that if necessary, you could pick up a replacement for next to nothing! However if I was buying a retro system, I would look at the Beocenter 7000/7002/7007/7700 which is available for next to nothing as well and is to all intents a mini 8000 system. Will need new capacitors and a belt for the cassette deck, but once done

They do a similar one for Toyota. Or at least for the Prius . It is not wireless though and all the better for it. I tried a Griffin iTrip and found the sound quality and volume unacceptable.

Move the arm back to the near centre of the record and it should then automatically return it to the stop position. Once that is done, it should work fine. Tell her not to worry though - the 2200 is almost worthless!

No problem with you asking but unfortunately we are not dealers and don't have easy access to the software. Some of us do have it but it is 65Mb so not easy to share and there are a variety of issues in using it that cause problems. The firmware update is the latest hurdle.
-
The other problem is that the new software requires the firmware of the Beo5 to be updated and this can only be done when attached to the B&O intranet. For this you require a log in and password.
