• Re: I'm angry and upset and its not even mine!

Yep, seems that as long as you can hang it on the wall at neck aching heights, where everyone who drives down your road can see it then that is all that matters these days! I would love to have seen HD CRT's compete with flatscreens and Samsung nearly had a rival to the panels about 5 years ago, but what with all the issues they had with the super

  • Re: Beogram 4004 Trouble

I am guessing you have not managed to run the player without blowing a fuse yet? Not sure the spikes are normal or not but I would concentrate elsewhere tbh if the motor runs fine. You need to identify exactly which area / function is pulling too much current. Does the deck work without the motor connected? At what point does the fuse blow? Is it associated
But based on my set the wire definately does not belong on the preset.
Look again Eugene, while the wires are not the same colours as Leslies or attached to the same common point on the preset PCB they are wired up exactly the same! Looks like the black was a little short to reach the pcb in your set! I would

Look at the picture of the board print in the manual and you will see the wire colours are specified. Black and black / white. Unfortunately no wire colours on the front end PCB but I bet if you offer that solder lump up to the pad it will match!

Sorry by SM I mean Service Manual when I say the preset board I mean the board that is visible with the transistor on the rear and lots of wires. The black wire between the green and white / grey wires. The other end goes into the front end does it not?

Look at the SM Leslie, it clearly shows the black / white wire is connected to the black wire on the preset board. I am sure Martin would be able to sort something out regarding your broken preset. For now I would swap it for least used.

Good thread Soren shows how a little bit of determination, mixed with attention to detail can do wonders for these hifis. Only one small thing, try not to ever apply to much force on your precious soldering iron tip, that includes pushing component pins out etc... You might damage the coating on the tip and it will bend too. I found out the hard way

The voltage in the UK whilst it was lowered on paper to harmonise with europe was actually left at 240v, but remains within stated European tolerance. Would the lower capacitance on the output not actually reduce bass slightly...

  • Re: WOW! a B&O Must Have

Most vintage B&O systems you find in the UK have had their rather nice 2-pin plugs removed and had either normal plugs attached or these crappy square (I think made by masterpieceofcrud or some similar name) one-off 3-pin mini plugs with 4-way extension. Pointless with class II equipment but I guess an 'extra' chargeable service offered
