The MMC1 to MMC5 cartridges have a different fitting from the MMC20 series cartridges so you would not be able to swap one for the other. The best option of all is to buy a replacement cartridge from soundsmith. They are not cheap, but by all accounts they sound better than the originals. Simon

This is an interesting discussion. There is certainly more to great music that being recorded well and instrumental skill though. Bob Dylans Guitar playing could be described as limited and his voice was once described as sounding like a cow with his leg stuck in a fence, but he created some of the most compelling music of the 20th Century. Congratulations on your purchase. I have the slightly newer s45-2's which are on many respects similar. Mine were in terrible cosmetic condition when I bought them because someone had made a failed attempt to varnish the oiled wood with predictable reults. I stripped off the varnish using a commercial stripper. Hopefully you won't need to do

Shouldn't a lower impedance mean that you need to turn up the volume less and therefore the battery will last longer, or have I misunderstood something? Simon

I don't think they can be had new any more, but if you send a PM to Nobby on this forum there is a good chance that he will be able to sort you out with a second hand one. Simon
