Do NOT grease anything near the big white wheel/gear inside the turntable. I did this myself and that just made things worse. Had to disassemble the whole thing and clean it with electronics cleaner (isopropanol alcohol). The wheel/gear is made from a low friction plastic and does not not need lubrication. Cleaning it doesn't hurt though. :)

Don't think recapping the PS would do anything. Maybe there is a broken trace somewhere in the signal path between the sockets and the amplifier. I'm assuming that you have tried the line in-socket?

I had hum coming from the transformer in one of my pentas. When I put my hand against the amp, I could feel it vibrating. After replacing the 10000uf 80v caps in the power supply, it went away completely.

Which module is this and what is wrong with the old one? I had a look at the service diagram, but could not find it. Most of what's inside the old beocenters can be repaired. I'm sure someone here can guide you through it! If you want spare parts for equipment this old, you will almost certainly have to buy a compete unit. :(

Just dismantle it and have a look. It is very simple. Four allen screws to detach the stand from the frame, and then just one torx screw to dismantle it. All underneath the stand. The stand is actually a big ball bearing. If something has gotten inside i guess it could make a noise.

Get an external usb soundcard. Theres too much noise inside a laptop computer to use the internal soundcard for hi-fi.

When I bought mine the seller told me he had had some of the panels replaced three years ago.
