Hi Alex: This is a crap shoot... but I had exact same problem on a BG4002 that I repaired. Follow the solenoid to the transistor. Along the control signal path there is a zener diode the feeds the transistor. I don't have my notes handy (I'm thinking 24 volts but I don't remember!). This diode was bad in my unit. Perform a diode test. If

You need to replace ALL electrolytics in this deck. I also had similar problems. As for speed regulation.... 1) Make sure belt is riding on the center of the pully. Some belts have a tendency to slip to the edge where the diameter is larger. 2) During reassembly make sure the felt damper is fitted properly. It is mounted on a copper pivot arm and is

Jeff: in my 8000 mostly TL 072CP uAF 772TC 1 NE5532 in the phono stage. NE5532 would also be a good op-amp for "warmer" sound. These are used extensively in Studer tape recorders.

Hi Martin: Thanks for your reply. After posting last night, I read upon the "analog offset" adjustments and adjusted accordingly. I was able to lessen the steps but not too much. You are correct in that you can't get rid of it. Having spent a great deal of time on the BM8000 now from redoing the displays to recapping, I've come to

Hi: I have a beomaster 8000 that I just recapped. It sounds much better with new capacitors installed, however I the digital noise from source switching, volume control, frequency change is now more prominent. For example, changing the volume, you can hear the attenuator "step." I checked all grounding, resoldered the ribbon cables but so

Hi: You'll want to recap this one. The dead channel may come back; the deck will sound much better. I just restored a 9000 that had lots of distortion. With new caps it sounds great. As for standby... check fuses. But the fuses may have blown because of a short, perhaps in power supply? There are 2 fuses.... one on regulator board and one inside

Hi: Check the muting relay. It is on the DIN connector. Sometimes the contacts have oxidized. Derek

Hi Michel: Are there any new compact flourescent bulbs within the vincinity of this unit? Try relocating the unit. My doors started opening randomly one day. I thought there were ghosts in the house. Then I noticed that it only behaved as such when the floor lamp was on. Recently we replaced the incandescent bulb with a flourescent one. It doesn't

Not sure about MMC 20s. Benny at Amina Audio in the US retips MMC 1-5 for $100 USD. He can do MMC20s but says he needs to cut off the front of the cartridge so he won't be able to preserve the look.

Dillen: Do you have replacement rubber for the wheels inside the 9000 decks? I think mine are wearing out. The belts are in good condition but rewind is a bit weak as is play. Derek
