  • Re: Beogram 5005 RIAA built-in

Hi, thanks for the reply. I'll check out some pre-amp options closer to home than across the pond - thanks for the link though. So I should be able to isolate the Datalink wire while the 'sound' wires are fed through a pre-amp? Cool.

  • Beogram 5005 RIAA built-in

Hello everyone, While Axel refurbs my MMC4 I'd like to investigate the possibility of adding an RIAA pre-amp to the 5005. Ultimately I'm donating this deck to my Dad for him to use with his Beomaster 3500 and Beovox 3702s. I've read many threads on here regarding such matters, and would like to know if anyone has successfully added an RIAA

  • Re: Beomaster 5000 front access flap

Amazing!! The string had simply slipped off the lower hub. Now it glides beautifully (and makes a cool 80s whirring sound). As usual nothing but excellent results from the Beoworld forum!

  • Beomaster 5000 front access flap

Dear all, Just a quick question concerning the front access flap on my Beomaster 5000 (1986): When I press the front panel in on the left side to unlock the magnetic lock, should the flap 'clatter' open or should it slowly and silently glide open? Just wondered. I've not had the unit long and I compared to my BeogramCD 3500 it's kind

Nice one thanks Graham. I was just checking out a new SMMC 4 from Soundsmith. $149.99 + $35 shipping to the UK. I'll see what Alex says. Cheers Julian

Graham and Olly, thanks to you both. Good suggestions. I can try another amp here - no problem. As for sending the cartridge off, as you suggested Graham, I'm sadly an idle Brit with rather limited multi-lingual ability. Have you used the re-pointing service before, as advertised on your recommended website? If so do they quote a price for a refurb

Hi Soren, Thanks - I've had a good look and the stylus is certainly the only thing in contact with the record as it turns. The pictures below show the tonearm, cartridge and stylus in action.
