  • Re: vintage speaker selection

Thanks Peter I just looked up the 2200s.I have never seen those before.Interesting design with the deep box. Those are within the size range I have in mind at 285mm(11")tall.Glad to hear your input on the CX 100s,I would prefer to just convince the wife to leave the Advents in place as opposed to taking a downgrade in sound. The Advents, which I bought

  • vintage speaker selection

I am looking for advice on selecting a small set of speakers to pair with my 1960s tube Kenwood receiver. The receiver is only about 6 watts per channel.I currently am getting great sound out of a pair of Advent 3002(2 way accoustic suspension,8" woofer).I use this setup at my summer cottage and it sounds great, but my wife has deemed the Advents

  • Tangential decks extend pickup life?

Just a theory, and I welcome criticism. I have not yet commited to the inevitable purchase of a new soundsmith cartridge.I have just one functional MMC20EN that does triple duty between my Beocenter 7000,beogram 3400,and recently,my new beogram 4004.The cartidge suspension in worn.the stylus is a bit offset from center when at rest,at play on the BC7000

Geoff Sorry, didn't take any pics.I'll describe.I can't claim the patent on outfitting LEDs on these machines as I have seen it done on this forum. -First mark how far the lamp protrudes into the housing. -Next I cut away the square block portion that is filled with adhesive holding the lamp. -Then tack the LED in place inside the housing

Done! Installed a white LED with hot glue.Used a 1k 1 watt dropping resistor.Works great. It might be my imagination but this thing seems to sound better than my BG3400,using the same cartridge. Thanks for all the input Paul

I am considering a white LED and dropping resistor but it is a bit too much voltage to drop for my liking.

  • Re: Beogram 4004 problem

Good call, martin.I have the assembly out and the lamp is burned out.Now for a suitable replacement.I Measured 22 volts on the circuit.I have a 14v .08amp lamp and a 28v .04 amp.Would either of these be suitable?I notice the schematic just list the part as "housing with lamp".

  • Beogram 4004 problem

I just received my first Beogram 4004.An excellent piece of engineering. It was sold as is,not working, which is just the kind of project I like.Everything seems ok except the slide transport will not increment automatically as the arm becomes offset, and eventually the tonearm reaches maximum travel and the record just skips.I have opened it up and ran
