  • Re: Everything is different now ...

Very difficult to do anything but agree! I now listen to almost all my music via the computer and am getting a new iPhone. Now it is 3G, it has all I require.

  • Re: Beocenter 9500 - How should it be displayed?

There was a wall mount which leaned it forward at an angle of about 35 degrees. Looked very good but you would have to get one fabricated as I have not seen one for years!

  • Re: Getting a Beogram 5500 serviced in the UK?

Tim Jarman will service the 5500 for you I am sure. He can be contacted at Beocentral. The Pro-ject is really not bad. If you wish to spend more, consider a Michell. The humming will just be an earth problem. The casing of the DIN plug needs to be attached to earth. If the platter is rubbing, the springs will need adjusting - a little gentle working

  • Re: The Remote Control

Wow! Remote is far faster with my system and also gives a volume control so is even better. Using an iTouch though am going to get the new iPhone as sick of my Blackberry. I take it that this will work with PCs as well - should anyone have one of those!

  • Re: Quadraphonic sound

There are a couple of problems: 1. The records - if they have been played in an unsuitable record player, the rear channels can be wrecked. This because the sound is encoded at 20-45kHz and then converted back by the electronics in the BG6000. A heavily tracking cartridge can destroy the grooves. 2. The suspension of the cartridge will be hardening

  • Re: Quadraphonic sound

I really wouldn't bother! I would look at surround sound instead. Quad records were at the beginning of surround sound and the technology and the mixing of the albums are both pretty basic. The BG6000 does produce 4 discrete channels though , all at line level, so I am sure there is a solution.

  • Re: I need some clarification on Beocenter 2

Make sure you get the DVD version - there is an audio CD only one though they are scarce. Given the choice, I would get a late one with the audio feedback from the keys. This has only been out for about a year though. The only other decision is whether to get DAB or not. I would favour yes though it does depend on where you live.

  • Re: beomaster 2000 speaker issue

I take it that it is the 80s BM2000. Sounds like it is the protection circuit working. I would check the speakers cables and make sure that there is no short or poor connection. Martin is obviously wondering about the load of the speakers - if they are both very difficult to drive, the amplifier will try to protect itself. It probably needs a service

  • Re: Been away for a while... has the new Super Hi-fi been released yet?

You will no doubt be shocked to hear that it has been delayed! Software problems have been cited!
