I wouldn't mount LED's, the circuit wasn't built for it. F.e. a LED will not be able to indicate the signal strength as the lamp does without eventual modification of the circuit. I have correct lamps in stock if you can't find any locally. Martin

Peter, The Beolit 39 was on the bench but I am missing a dial lamp... It's a rather special lamp design that by rotating sets the mains working voltage for the whole radio. I can make a substitute but it won't feel right. I would like to hear from anyone having a spare dial lamp. Kevin, The Beomaster 3000 switch section is a nightmare as you've

The radio will have to go to a new home. I have no room for my collection anymore and more projects will follow but when I wrote the above story, my mind wasn't on the selling of the radio at all. It was a mild attempt at making Beoworld cover an even wider range of B&O interest and the workbench section opened the opportunity and seemed like

Thanks guys for the nice comments. If you had only half the fun reading it as I had doing it, it was all worthwhile. The radio comes out of my own private collection and is in daily use as of this writing but like the majority of things in my collection it will eventually be sold. I simply have no room for the things any longer. The radio has a veneer

Yes, it's incredibly hot. I'm on the road today but long for my little workshop. The heat sink will be a bit warm at the extreme right side, this is normal, but only just enough for you to feel that it's "alive". Any warmer and it should be checked. Martin

Your Beomaster has a transformer running from the mains at all times supplying voltage for the processor etc. (standby). In some cases, it can help if you take out the mains power plug, rotate it 180deg and insert again. Having said that, your Beomaster will always hum a bit, that's unavoidable but it shouldn't be annoying. Like most other 70's

Normal dial string is what you need. Nothing fancy here. Restringing can always put your temper and patience to the test you will need lots of time and strong coffee, but the Beomaster 4000 is not the worst one to deal with. It doesn't have a lot of bells and whistles but merely the potentiometer wheel, a little wheel each end plus the knob. A spring

Sounds like resistors used as fuses. Martin

Some of the original caps are (in my opinion) slightly underdimensioned from the factory. In speakers like this I would recommend mounting no less than 100V components., they are all axial bipolar if my memory serves me right. A capacitor kit is readily available and I would recommend you replace the lot while in there. Martin
