Yes, the one with black front and 4 adjacent round knobs is the narrow model, I was referring to. I still recall the wonderful sound of the Beolab 608. Push-pull output stages and all, very nice indeed. I always regret selling things but that's life. The brass tweeters (or dispersers as they were called) are rare to see and a beautiful example of

The Redline RL140 cap kit is £20 including packing/postage. Covers a pair of speakers, comes with capacitor location chart and contains 100V components (original was 63V which is actually slightly underdimensioned). Sizes and outlines are much like the original caps and they fit the boards fairly nicely. Martin

Check the cartridge tracking force, the only weight forcing the cartridge down. Still no good ? - Check at the rear of the carriage, where the counterweight is. There's a spot where a sharp point of the counterweight meets the cast carriage chassis. Buildup of magnetism or similar can make the counterweight bind to the chassis, preventing the arm

All correct. There were also a narrow amplifier with black front, it's name escapes me at the moment. Repair of these vintage things can be expensive, I agree - but not impossible ! I never saw a black faced Minette FM tuner (Minette 609K = produced 1963) but here's a photo of a blue one: Martin

I agree. Capacitors and those horrible idle current trimmers. Replace the lot and adjust to factory specs. Martin

Sadly, I don't have any guides for this. The woofers I would recommend having done by a pro since the tolerances are very tight. Martin

If anyone at B&O could help, it would be Ronny but I seriously doubt it. B&O generally never gave any interest to their vintage range and never did anything to help collectors of their fine equipment let alone restorers. I don't have the manual but I know a guy who has restored several wire recorders. I believe he knows all there is to know

£6 ? Bargain ! For comparison I've seen unrestored pairs sell for apprx £200-250 in danish second-hand B&O shops. Rot = the woofers butyl surrounds deteriorate and simply falls apart. This can be repaired if caught in due time or it will eventually destroy the speakers beyond repair since the woofers are very unique for this model
