I can't see why it wouldn't work via the DVI-I input.

An alternative would be to use a standard patress with a blanking plate. Cut a nice round hole in the blanking plate and feed any cables through it - Tidy up with some spiral cable wrapping or a nylon sock and it would be a nice finish.
