We are very lucky to have a strong team working for Beoworld though a great deal of the praise should be reserved for Lee who works tirelessly for the site and also the backshop boys, Keith and Van who do so much more than any of us realise. Actually you stand a good chance of winning something in absolute terms. As one who has done the draw when Lee is away, I can guarantee it is completely above board - don't you think we would let the regular users win a bit more if it wasn't? it would be far more exciting if those on line were winning and we would probably get a bigger audience

Actually, you don't need to switch it. The RIAA works in stereo as well. So yes.

I did have a mint one but after two years at Bellac it is very sorry for itself. Left in the damp, it is probably beyond repair - but I am going to attempt it! They turn up on Ebay regularly.

I have dug out the service manual for the Avant 32" Type 8400-8 That has circuit diagrams. However it obviously is unlikely to be that helpful! The later ones don't seem to have anything like this. I can't really scan it - it would simply take too long but I can lend it to you if you want. Let me know.

The Beomaster 3400 has an SQ decoder built in - that is what the Matrix button does! The user manual is on site! Having had both, the 3400 sounds better but the 6000 is the better looking. However getting a good 6000 is much more difficult than a 3400. The 3400 is robust and very easy to service where the 6000 is a pig. The keys on the 6000 mark easily

I would want to see the receipt from the dealer and the PIN code as you say. Other than that, I would simply check their condition - the discs are expensive to replace.

Not quite that simple but there is a kit to do it! It was rather expensive I seem to remember though - and it may not be available any more. The 2500 arrived in 1991 - it may well have changed to metal grilles in 1999 - but I can't remember that!

You need a 5 pin DIN socket to 2 pin RCA and earth. If you don't want to unscrew the two extra pins, you can get a 7 pin socket - look at this page - scroll down a bit and you will find what you need. Welcome to Beoworld.
