As far as I am aware, the Beo4 is 'hard wired' so you need to use the List system. I have Sky and Freeview attached to my AV9000 and use a SCART expander and V.Aux. No perfect but it all works - I use a STB-C to work Sky and a DVD-C to work the Freeview/DVD-R box. I have left the V.Tape attached.

I think the main problem has been identified! If it does not have a cartridge - the needle on the end of the arm - this will be expensive - think $200. Worth seeing what it does - see if it works mechanically - does the platter turn when you switch it on - you will need a record on the platter - and does the arm move?

Is the arm moving when on the record? Or is it simply becoming more angled, which will sound awful.

Welcome to Beoworld. I strongly suggest you get a Beogram - a 1700 would be an ideal choice for your system obviously and is one of the best sounding and under rated decks made by B&O. As you have posted so nicely and I guess are at the younger end of the age scale, if you find the deck (cheap!) I will give you a cartridge (trickier to find!) I
