How about just teaching them the Queen's English, for starters? The last time I was in England, I didn't understand the youngsters on the Underground. I was taught the Queen's English growing up in Rhodesia - no, I'm not going to be politically correct, here! And I can still converse in the Queen's English today! Onomatopaeia, and

Someone with a very weird sense of humor, and probably waiting for another member to call him on it! I don't know Latin, but my dad does, and he took one look at it, and started laughing. So I guess I had to laugh too. Is this from Dr Seuss, or what? Menahem

Hi Jay, Check this article - http://www.beoworld.org/article_view.asp?id=67 It shows your BG6002 as NOT having a built-in RIAA pre-amp. Even though your Denon has a Phono input, it may or may not have a built-in RIAA pre-amp, and you'd have to do some research on your own to confirm that. If the Denon does not have a built-in RIAA pre-amp, you'd

In the old days, I used to take my cartridges to a manufacturing jeweller who had an ultrasonic bath. To prevent damage from moving around, I inserted the cartridge into a mini plastic tube (like an IC tube), with netting over the tube ends. That was one clean cartridge after the bath! I haven't had that pleasure in the last couple of years, but

Hi Martin, The stereo sounds nice, but I'll bet that it sounds much better right there! I know that one cannot capture the "tube sound" on mp3. That's why we're all here spending our time on all this beautiful vintage stuff!!!!! Menahem

I'd recommend you to take a good look at Solen's capacitors www.solen.ca I used the PB-MKP-FC 400V Metallized Polypropylene units on a S55 restoration. Very good quality, and very reasonable pricing. Good luck

You didn't catch that little mouse who was sharpening his gold-plated teeth on the octal tube sockets, did you? They are the ones who always cause these intermittent problems Martin, you've done a beautiful job! I also want one of those - but in the meantime, I have to be satisfied with my restored Grundig 4016 - also Stereo! This one took me

My Favorite - BeoMaster 3400, BeoGram 6000 Quad, BeoCord 2200 and 4 S45's - the first edition with the fantastic woofers. My other Favorite - BeoMaster 1600 (Moldawer), Beocord 5000 (a new addition). All completely restored to new condition! I'm not sure if the BeoCenter 9300 is classified as vintage - I think not, but that's my 3rd system

Your chances of finding a new one are just about zero. You could probably find a used one in a parts unit, but that would fail in short order, so you wouldn't have gained anything. If you send me the main PCB, with the solenoid attached and stuck in, I can rebuild it for you. Menahem

Hi Frede Thanks so much for your compliment! Actually, if you look at the picture above, you can see that the IC's printboard markings are correct. The socket was inserted in reverse. The socket's pins numbers are also engraved in the plastic from 1-40. When working on PCB's, one's first inclination is to go with what is seen easily
