It might just be that the old lubricant has dried up and stopping it opening and closing easily. Clean up the mechanism and put some fresh silicone grease on the cogs and I bet it would be as good as new.

Just what had happened to my 3000 that I am going through. Mine was the volume slider and it was up at full volume. It gave me a fright when I first turned it on! On mine the little piece that was broken was still in the box so I just glued it back, slotted the volume control back in position and hey presto, evereything worked again. As for the balence

I didnt reshim it. I have done these and other speakers and am pretty sure it was ok. There was and still is no rubbing at all when pressed in. Also it has been very lightly used ie max volume of about 8 out of 60 on my BM6000.

The woofer on one of my MC120.2's has totally died. I have no idea why. There is nothing coming from it at all. I have opened up the cabinet and connected another speaker to the wires to check it was not the crossover and this speaker produced sound. I've never had a driver fail completley and didnt even know that one could. It has been refoamed

After a couple of days of use and a bit of contact cleaner sprayed on the switches the Beomaster now functions perfectly. All of the switches work easily and there is no scratching from the sliding controls. When I get round to it I will get a cap kit and have a go at replacing the caps. The only thing that doesnt work is the green "stereo"

Thanks, it wont be perfect (there are a couple of chips in the veneer on the side panel) but hopefully it will hone my skills and make me brave enough to tackle other projects. So far its going well

Being a lover of the older pieces of equipment, I thought I would like to try my hand at a little bit of restoration. What I needed was something that I could practise on and would be fixable by some one with little knowledge but lots of enthusiasm. I recently came across exactly what I was looking for in a Beomaster 3000 that had all the usual faults

Just pull it off. Very easy.

My CDX CD player. I have listened to most other b&o cd players and none seem to sound as good as the old CDX. I had a nice Naim one too and that quickly got sold as it just didnt have the sound quality of the cdx

If you have seen that one on ebay, look further down listing as its not what is being sold.
