Speakers are very personal choices - in isolation, I prefer 8000s to BL3s in a bigger room. Add a sub-woofer, and the 3s are probably in front! However it is your ears! Very important to listen first!

You don't need to tune as it is going through SCART. The BV5 is essentially exactly the same as an Avant so do just the same. It is best to use the AV or V.Tape sockets as they are RGB; the decoder is just composite. You need to allocate the appropriate socket to the Freeview box. Don't have the stand on my BV5 so cannot help there!

The laser on the CD50 is undestructible. The rest of it, I have to say, is not! I have a non workking CD50 sitting here as I type!

Not worth a great deal - though the DVD player, if a B&O DVD1, is worth a fair bit more. £50 for the TV and maybe £200 for the DVD1 if in perfect condition. The set is a 4:3 so not ideal in the modern world. However I still use an LX6000 most days! Lovely picture and will work fine as a link set. I'd keep it personally!

BL9s are the smaller version but don't have the digital connection. I would suggest a visit to your dealer, with your wife, and see which she will give houseroom to. The Beolab 8000 is very beautiful and matches the 9000 nicely. I would not consider a 3200 - the HDD is very limited. Have you considered the Beosound 5? How have you got your music

It depemds on your budget and where you live. Beolab 5s produce a huge amount of very accurate bass. If you live in a flat, these are not the speakers for you! If you live in a house, they most definitely are. Beolab 3s are good small speakers - I used a pair with my computer for some time - but do need a sub-woofer or the bass can sound muddled at

The reason they make in wall Beovoxes is so that there are no electronics so they can be fitted in damp enviroments - like bathrooms. I have heard there is a new speaker to fit between the 3 and the 9 - maybe this is what is being thought about?

The strobe marks are raised Nextel and it is perfectly safe to put an LP directly on this. Some people do put a felt mat on though it spoils the looks. Check you have completely undone the transit screws and the deck should be level, Sometimes the suspension does need some adjusting in older decks but the transit screws are the usual culprit. You can
