  • Re: Beogram 5005 right channel output lower than left

Seconded. The switch is connected a bit funny, but from what I can tell it short circuits the cartridge together in versions without a built-in RIAA preamp, and shorts the midpoints of a filter stage to ground in versions with built-in preamp. In either case, simply leaving the switch out should eliminate this possibility for channel mismatch. Anyway

  • Re: beomaster 7000 mit beogram 5500 und beolink 1000

Entschuldigung für Englisch, aber ich kann Deutsch nicht so gut schreiben :-) Is this RIAA board available from the dealer, and does it fit BM6500 too? I was thinking about buying an external preamp, so I could use my old Dual CS5000 until I find a suitable Beogram for my system. This internal solution would be much nicer. Does it have to be removed

  • Re: Beocord 6500 sled problems

Success again! I had to replace every single belt including the tiny one for the rotation sensor. The flat belt inside the mechanism was a tricky one to get in place, but everything seems to work just fine now. What a cool machine! I had never seen one in action before... -mika

  • Re: Beocord 6500 sled problems

Got it. Those designers are crazy :-) The belt was cut, so I guess I'll be happy until tomorrow when I go and get a new one (and for the transport as well) and see if there are any more problems. Hope not! Thanks a million, again... -mika

  • Re: Beogram 5005 right channel output lower than left

Unfortunately I don't have the repair manuals nor have I ever seen one of these machines myself, but a switch should be just a switch. If it reads anything else than open loop or 0 ohms depending on the position, there has to be something wrong with it (BTW, be careful when measuring! Some cartridges might not like the measurement current of some

  • Beocord 6500 sled problems

OK, the Christmas is over, so it's time to take on this next challenge in my Beosystem 6500 :-) Long story short: the sled won't move. Or actually it moves freely, but not by itself. When I plug the recorder in or press the "open" button, the motor spins for a while (with an ugly noise), and then the unit gives up. I also found the

  • Re: Beogram 5005 right channel output lower than left

Couldn't you just bypass (i.e cut off) the switch until you get a replacement? Most other turntables in the world have never heard of a muting switch, and they still won't destroy the loudspeakers with a Bang, so to speak :-) Not quite as sophisticated, but at least the levels would be right... -mika

  • Re: Workshop CD5500 CD6500 CD7000 Reparatur Laser Controller Servo Platine

Regarding this other thread , I can confirm that it's worth at least trying. It was late in the evening and I was pretty excited to find out if the player was toast or not, so I grabbed the closest thing I could find in my storage: four pieces of run-of-the-mill radial 10u caps in parallel. I haven't listened to my CDs this much in years, and

  • Re: Penta front grille removal

Thanks, I got it; I never would've believed that was the place to pry (I tried first behind the copper, but luckily lost confidence before anything broke...). And the midranges were fine, too - I had some distortion in my test source...

  • Penta front grille removal

How do you take off the front grilles (frets?) of Beovox Pentas without breaking anything? I think I have some midrange suspension problems to sort out... -mika
