If it works I don't see why you shouldn't just use it and enjoy it. Usually for this model, inadequate lubrication doesn't end in catastrophy but merely malfunction until corrected. Most likely in need of lubrication. It's hard to tell exactly what and where to lubricate without actually having it on the bench. Could also be a worn bearing in the motor. Martin

Welcome to Beoworld ! Wonderful machine but it sounds like the suspension in your cartridge has lost it's grip on the cantilever. This is, sadly, not the first time we see this. My advice would be to visit Soundsmith and shop for a new cartridge. The Beogram 1800 is a fine deck though, in my opinion, the build quality of the deck in your Beocenter

Interesting case and definitely one I would have enjoyed having on the bench, if for nothing else than curiosity and the challenge. The 20V supply is essential. Check that this is present and clean at the preamp board. There's a 5V and 28V as well, they also need to be present at the board. Martin
