ok test your solenoid by disconecting the enamled wire(s) that come from the unit itself onto the board in front of it. This will rule out any miss-connections or other shorts in the wiring harness! The solenoid should be about 9R I am sure of it and is very unlikely to be faulty. The circuit applies about 21v to the solenoid for only a fraction of

Nice vids Soren! The 45 indicator is absolutely normal, and only changes when a record is present! My players are about the same as yours noise wise. Maybe my 8000 is a little quieter than your 8002's.

Finally some evidence to back up what I have been saying for ages!!! I cannot believe the plastic motor was EVER as quiet as that but I might be qrong!

I have been using carrs micro-grease which is 'a flouro-silicon based compound containing no hydrocarbons or solvents' (whatever that means!) designed with low sheer and high tenacity ideal for worm gears and small cogs. Made for model railway trains etc... Seems to work fine but I am not sure if it responsible for noise reduction.

Jacques there is a proceedure in the manual to help the technician isolate the fault to either micro or Pulse height modulator side but you need an RF signal generator and scope. Have a look toward the end of the manual somewhere...

Just compared the 4000 to the 8000 and the latter was definately noisier! If I can find my external microphone I will try to get a video clip some time!
