• Re: Password for Beomaster 5

The cable that came with mine was a "straight through". Therefore (as Puncher said), you cannot connect it directly with the iMac, but you must connect both the iMac and BM5 to a router/switch/bridge... or get a "cross over" cable. The cross over cable should be fairly inexpensive ($20). Switches/routers/bridges start around $50

  • Re: LIVING WITH MY BEOSOUND 5 PART 1

If you're trying to transfer music using the BeoPlayer "transfer to BM5 option" (or whatever the option is that you can select by right-clicking the BeoPlayer icon in the system tray), this has not worked with my system. However, you can use Windows Explorer to copy the folders from your PC to the BM5. Assuming BeoPlayer shows that it
What I'm missing on the Beosound 5 is a connectable disc player for converting my audiophile CD's into WMA directly.
You don't have a computer?

  • Re: Beosound 5.... who has it and likes it? or get something else?

I've had mine for a couple months, listen to it often for many hours a day (I work at home and have my office as a link room) and echo the positive comments above (sounds great, MOTS works, finds forgotten songs, nice users experience). I would warn that if you enjoy a high degree of control over your music (i.e. like to build extensive playlists

  • Re: BMaster screen resolution

No excuse for crashing, but the BS5 will respond jerkily while it is "digesting" newly added music. I think the song analysis for MOTS places a heavy load on the system. It may take a day or two to analyze all the songs if you loaded many 100s of songs. Once this is complete, the wheel returns to normal smooth sailing. Hopefully, you will

Glad to hear you've finally got your system sorted out. I hope you can finally enjoy it now. Stan

  • Re: synchronized backups

If it always fails at the same place, you are likely running into some kind of limit. However, I believe the theoretical files per folder limit is quite a bit larger than 11K... although I've seen recommendations around the net for trying to keep it under 10K. Could you're be running out of disk space? Or, you probably actually have ~22K files

  • Re: Dust under glass of Beosound 5...!

I've had mine for about 2 mos and use it almost daily. It has lived up to my expectations, and, overall, I'm very satisfied. No dust under my glass. No phantom reboots or unexpected hangs for me. It has performed just as expected. This forum is like any other - people with problems talk a lot more than those without. If you take a close look

  • Re: Beosound 5 after update - nothings works like before

It sounds like your BM5 and BV9 are not recognizing each other. I would check every connection and the option programming. If this all look OK, I'd try a masterlink reset (turn off and unplug all ML devices, then plug them back in - plugging in the BV9 last). I have the update and my system is working fine (but I do not have a BV9). If you put the

  • Re: Beosound 5 MOTS

Does it do this with every song, or just a few? I have a few songs that must not have anything similar (or maybe they are too long - I did see an error message when poking around on the BM5 that a song or two was too long for MOTS analysis - these were ~20 minute classical pieces). Also, if you load 100s of songs, it may take a day or two to analyze
