I checked the DIN plug - nothing wrong in there. I took the deck apart. If I touch the soldering point with a screwdriver where the wires from the head connect to the thicker wire that goes to the big main board, there is a hum and I can get it to both channels. So I believe the amplifier section is working as should. Could the head itself be bad?

I just had another Beogram 1000 for repair... it wasn't running at all! This was the later type with the black plastic speed selector (with no text for 78 rpm even it is selectable). I took the whole motor - speed adjustment block out and disassembled completely. There is harden lubricants everywhere inside so you have to clean every single axis

Hi. I got a Beogram CD 5500 and a Beocord 5500 for repair. The CD was told to be completely dead, but it was just a case of cracked soldering on power supply diodes. Resoldered and now works as new. (But, Martin, can you supply a new belt for the drawer mech, it's having troubles with the stage where the clamper goes down - the belt is slipping

I found this yesterday so in case you haven't noticed this yet: http://notebook.beocentral.com/ Great advices on several B&O's what to look for in repair. Also TVs and older sets. According to the dates these haven't been online more than few weeks.

A relative of mine has a Beovision LX5500 with BL1000 and there was some key combination that shows the hours the set has been powered on (and some other readings too). I don't know if it works too on the MX series but perhaps somebody else knows...? In case this works on MX series I'd like to know it too as I have a MX3000.

I agree. I had some adjusting with the tape as it was too thick and the glass was too high and the touch controls didn't work. I added some filling to the hooks that attach the circuit board to the glass and so it worked. I was thinking that if I ever need to take the glass off it's easier with tape rather than glued. Still, if you find it easier

That's the usual trouble with B&Os that have glass panels - the original tape won't last. I reattached the glass of my Beocord 3500 (the same except mirrored/grey lid). I found that the best "tool" to remove the old tape is thumbnail even that takes some hour or two. But the result will be great and this way you won't damage
